1. Polo Beach
Polo Beach is a beautiful crescent-shaped white sand beach that features scenic views of
Molokini Crater and Kahoolawe. The beach is just a 12-minute drive from Kihei with a
fully shaded parking lot. The best snorkeling spot is at the rocky points at the end of the
beach. You will be delighted with the number of colorful tropical fishes you can find in
this area. One helpful tip, come early in the morning for snorkeling since the water is
calmer during this time.
2. Ulua Beach Park
Ulua Beach Park is a popular place for those who are beginner-level snorkelers. It is a charming stretch of sandy beach located at the heart of Wailea. You can access the beach from Kihei by turning right leading to Wailea Ike road and then left to Wailea Alanui. The northern part of the beach around the reef is the best place to go snorkeling. 3. Kamaole Beach
When referring to Kamaole Beach, it may be helpful to know there are three sections, Kam I, Kam II, and Kam II. These three beaches are in the middle of Kihei and are easy to find. The beaches each have sand beaches and incredible views of Molokini. Kam III is the one with regular shore breaks which make it ideal for boogie boarding. It is also the best of the three for snorkeling. You need to get there early. Kamaole Beach is child-friendly and an ideal place for your children to learn snorkeling.
4. Keawakapu Beach
Considered one of the best beaches in Kihei, Keawakapu Beach is also an excellent spot for
snorkeling. This is a .7-mile-long sandy beach that runs to the end of Kihei. Both the north
end and the southern part of the beach are perfect for snorkeling. And since it is a popular beach, it can get crowded, especially during weekends and peak seasons.
5. Sugar Beach
It is situated on the northern tip of Kihei’s Kam I beach and is a sheltered three-mile park. This park is named after the late Charley Young, who was a landowner whose property led up to the beach. There is a grassy lawn area that leads to the beach andis near enough to the water so you can relax and take in the sun. This is also another location to snorkel. You will need to go to the calm area that is around the north area. This beach has no lifeguards but there are portable toilets and showers nearby.
