5 Fun Things to do in Nāpili, Maui

With its beautiful beaches, laid-back atmosphere, and easy access to some of West Maui’s best experiences, Nāpili is an ideal place to slow down and enjoy island life. Tucked between Kahana and Kapalua, this coastal community offers everything from local food and Hawaiian music to snorkeling and outdoor adventures.

Whether you’re visiting Maui for the first time or returning to a favorite island getaway, here are five things to add to your Nāpili itinerary.

1. Experience Hawaiian Music at the Slack Key Guitar Show

Spend an evening immersed in Hawaiian music at the Slack Key Show – Masters of Hawaiian Music, held at the Nāpili Kai Beach Resort Aloha Pavilion. Hosted by four-time Grammy Award-winning slack key guitarist George Kahumoku Jr., the weekly show celebrates one of Hawaiʻi’s most distinctive musical traditions through live performances, storytelling, special guests, and hula. The show is held Wednesday evenings, making it an easy addition to a West Maui itinerary and a memorable way to experience Hawaiian music and culture during your stay.

2. Start Your Day With Breakfast at the Gazebo

Few things pair better with a Maui morning than breakfast and an ocean view. The Gazebo at Nāpili Shores has long been a favorite among visitors and locals, known for its generous portions, casual atmosphere and signature macadamia nut pancakes. The popular oceanfront restaurant can draw a crowd, so consider arriving early. After breakfast, spend the morning exploring nearby Nāpili Bay or simply enjoy a leisurely start to your day.

3. Shop Local at the Nāpili Farmers Market

Get a taste of Maui while supporting local farmers and small businesses at the Nāpili Farmers Market. Located at 4900 Honoapiʻilani Highway, the market features Maui-grown produce along with locally made foods, beverages, and other products. Pick up fresh tropical fruit for a beach day, find something tasty for breakfast, or browse products made by Maui vendors. The market is currently held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.

4. Discover Honolua Bay

Just north of Nāpili, Honolua Bay offers the chance to experience one of West Maui’s most beautiful marine environments. The bay is part of the Honolua-Mokuleʻia Marine Life Conservation District and is home to coral reefs and a variety of marine life. When ocean conditions are calm, Honolua Bay is a popular destination for snorkeling. Conditions can change quickly, however, particularly during the winter months when large surf is possible. There are no lifeguards at the bay, so always check conditions before entering the water and avoid snorkeling when the ocean is rough. Visitors can help protect this special place by respecting wildlife and leaving coral, rocks, and other natural features undisturbed.

5. See West Maui From Above

Ready to add a little adventure to your Maui getaway? Head toward nearby Kapalua for a zipline experience and a completely different perspective on West Maui. Soaring above the landscape offers panoramic views of the mountains, valleys, and coastline while adding a little adrenaline to your vacation. Whether you’re traveling with family, friends, or as a couple, it’s a memorable way to see another side of the island.
